The Annual Meeting of the 15 Trustees of the Oakley Holidays took place at the home of Alison and Mark Rowley in west London on Saturday 22nd November with Peter Downes in the chair.
The successful and very well-attended holidays at Bilton Grange were the main subjects of the formal annual reports presented to the Trustees by Treasurer Lewis Kent and Secretary Julian Wilde.
Recruitment from a variety of areas had been at a pleasing level during 2008, the financial situation was satisfactory and the continuing good relationships with everyone at Bilton Grange was encouraging. These reports will now be forwarded to the Charity Commissioners and to Companies House.
Trustees heard from Russel Bailey, Chris Vernazza and Kathy Sealy about the recent and the future development of the Oakley website, the printed magazine - ‘The Oakley Ciren’ - and the newsletters sent to members by E mail.
Arrangements for celebrations to mark the 90th anniversary of Oakley Holidays were discussed and the Trustees adopted a revised child protection policy as well as a new procedure for dealing with illness or accidents at the Holidays.
Dates were confirmed for the next leaders’ Conference at Barnes Close, Birmingham in February and for the 2009 holidays at Bilton Grange for which the level of bookings was already high.
The four office-holders were re-elected and the date of the 2009 meeting was arranged for 21st November at the Rowleys’ home.
