Twenty Oakley members from the Lytham area met for a reunion meal on Sunday 31st August at an excellent new venue, The Birley Arms at Warton, and subsequently at the Burys’ home in Lytham where Emma Leigh, Frankie Ball and Kenji King joined us too.

The reunion enabled us to talk about the recent holiday at Bilton Grange, to catch up with the achievements of the seven members who had been to New Zealand and to meet up again with Ed Nussey who had been working with a dentist and travelling in India. Ed was thanked for the excellent account of his experiences and photographs which he managed to send by E mail.

Greetings were received from Ed Bury, travelling in America, Lianne Fox, teaching in Sweden, from Vicky and Ellie Taylor, with their family in Germany where Vicky is about to start a year at Gotingen University, from Chris Fox who was about to swim on a bike from Lands End to John O’Groats, and from the Vernazza brothers and Andrew Marshall.

Plans were discussed for attending the Oakley Holidays in 2009 as well as invitations to new members and it was agreed to hold the Christmas reunion with a further active visit to Manchester on Monday 22 December.
