57. DO THE GREAT NORTH RUN

The Great North Run is one of the country’s most well-known and most popular charity events, taking place in Newcastle each September.

Oakley member NICK HALL, aged 17, took part in September 2009 to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK – his first attempt at this kind of distance- 13 miles

Some questions to think about

• Can you commit to the training for a period of several weeks?

• How will you travel to Newcastle and what back-up will you have?

• How do you get a place in an oversubscribed race?

• Is this the right race, if this is your first run? You may want to look at some of the other pages here in the MAD Directory which outline charity runs of various types, locations and distances

• How will you organize your fund-raising? How important is this to you?

Oakley Contact: Nick Hall will be willing and able to help you answer these questions in the light of his experience this year
