50. Using your skills on a voluntary basis

Can you play the piano, cook, play chess and use the computer? – all of these are examples of skills you have acquired could be shared with others on a voluntary basis ( this means no dosh for you ! )

Oakley member Jenny Beake has been teaching the eight year old daughter of a friend to play the piano; each lesson lasts an hour and they take place weekly .

Jenny has found that the work has refreshed her own music theory and has enabled her pupil to start on the piano without her parents paying for beginner’s lessons.

Children and grandparents alike want to learn to operate the computer and the DVD recorder – a skill which most in the 11-25 generation have in abundance. Have a think about other skills you have you could share with others

Oakley Contact: Oakley contact Jenny Beake will be pleased to share her experiences with you and to discuss your idea – have a careful consideration of the time and commitment which both teacher and pupil will need.
