48. RUN THE LONDON MARATHON     Oakley member George Jolliffe spent his 19th birthday running the London Marathon on 26 April 2009. George gained a place in the race through his school, Stonyhurst College, and with his friend Nick raised £4000 for the mission work of the Society of Jesus.
George completed the course in just over 4 hours How about you ? Could you do it? The next marathon, the 30th, is on Sunday 25 April 2010 Questions to consider include -
What are the chances of getting a place in the race? 155,000 applicants for 35,000 places this year Can you commit yourself to the necessary training? Are you going to train and run with a friend? Are you aiming to raise money for a charity? What’s the best way to choose a charity and organise this fund-raising? Who are your back-up team going to be on the race day?
