45. ORGANISE A SOCK PARADE! ![]() ![]() ![]() This is one of the easiest and most colourful charity events to organise – everyone has socks to spare!
It’s especially suitable for a school class who can decorate their form-room for the day with donated socks pegged out on a washing line – just check it out with your form teacher first.
Ask everyone to bring at least 3 pairs of socks, preferably new, and certainly clean Collect every type, style, colour and size of socks - for young and old, men, women, children and babies You can donate all the socks to the International Aid Trust which works especially with children’s homes in very poor parts of Eastern Europe.
Have a look at www.internationalaidtrust.org.uk for details – they are based near Preston. You will need to plan out how your going to get your bag of socks to them. 200 pairs socks will fill over half a black bin bag
Alternatively you can donate all the socks to a chosen charity shop – they are likely to get £100 for their funds from 200 pairs of socks. Talk about the idea with the shop manager first. Members of the Oakley Holidays have organized successful sock parades in 2006 and 2009 – a source of much interest and amusement and very simple to do.
