42. Volunteer as a mentor
The Youth Justice Board needs volunteers to work for their youth offending teams
Volunteers have a two month training course and do not need any previous qualifications.
It’s a very suitable idea for those of university age
The aims of the project are to give career advice, help young people develop social skills and help them to understand how their behaviour impacts on others
You can find some more details of what’s involved on their website - don’t be put off by the rather formal approach
Oakley Contact: SARAH KAY at Loughborough University is involved with the scheme and will be pleased to tell you of her experiences
