41. Teach someone English!
Oakley member Richard Heathcote spent the second year of his Sheffield University course in China and he recommends this idea for those in the 16 plus age group
If you’re looking for a way to spend your summer or are thinking of taking a gap year, then teaching English abroad could be the perfect option for you.
You could end up in Africa, Asia ( I say – go to China!!!), South America, or Europe on both paid and volunteer placements.
As a native speaker of English, you are an expert in one of the most complex languages on the planet
You have a skill which several hundred million people the world over are all striving to learn and this puts you in a great position to really make a difference.
You make a difference to your students (both adults and children) through your teaching which can be very rewarding.
You will also be able to experience the culture, meet the people, and (most importantly in my view) learn the language of the country that you are in!!
Frontier and Real Gap are just two of many websites offering information… or you can talk to me. All advice will be free!!
