18. Gift Aid donations to charities

Using Gift Aid enables you to increase the value of any donation you make to a charity by 28 per cent

You fill in a very simple form, return it to the charity and they do all the rest of the work – a donation of £200, for example, becomes £256 for the charity

You record your donation on a special section on your tax return – very simple to do

All Charities will have details about Gift Aid on their websites
