Oakley
Holidays holds an Annual Conference over a weekend during February.
All older members are encouraged to attend the Conference, and participation
is considered a valuable and worthwhile commitment on the part of those
seeking to support the holidays in a position of responsibility.
The Conference is designed to provides an
opportunity for the older members of the holiday to:
reflect
on what we learned from the holidays held the previous year
consider
improvements and begin to plan for the forthcoming holidays
learn
and discuss the requirements, knowledge and skills for serving
in a
position of responsibility at an Oakley Holiday
discuss issues
of wider current social concern
continue
to network with other Oakley Holiday attendees
2004 Conference agenda

Attendees
played a novel form of "Oakley Bingo" to learn something new
about each other.
A packed agenda included sessions reviewing 2003 and planning
for 2004, together with discussions on Oakley leadership,
the Oakley website, improving Oakley events, and the gradual 'formalisation'
of Oakley Holidays over the last decade.
Discussions of a broader nature included the proposed
introduction of "top-up" fees for University students, a comparison
of the benefits of money spent on aid to Uganda with a mission to Mars,
and designing "a code for living"!
During
the course of the weekend, there were several 'Quiet Times', and each
attendee recommended a film, book or play that they had seen or read during
the last 12 months.
There was also plenty of opportunity to relax, and renew friendships in
preparation for the forthcoming year.

A special thanks to everyone who contributed
to the success of the weekend, with particular mention to:

excellent summary of the Conference
