The Oakley Holidays Leaders' Conference is held in February each year at
a residential location.
The Conference runs over a weekend, beginning on the Friday evening, and closing after Sunday lunch.
Invitations are sent to existing Oakley leaders and those people who will be leaders for the first time during the forthcoming year.
Purpose: the Conference provides an opportunity
for the older members of the holiday to:
reflect
on what has been learned from the holidays held the previous year
consider
improvements and begin to plan for the forthcoming holidays
learn
and discuss the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for serving in a
position
of responsibility at an Oakley Holiday
discuss issues
of wider current social concern
continue
to network with other Oakley Holiday attendees
All older members are encouraged to attend the Conference,
and participation is considered a valuable and worthwhile commitment on
the part of those seeking to support the holidays in a position of responsibility.
Agenda and details:
The formal agenda comprises approximately 10 sessions, together with 'Quiet
Times'. The itinerary for the Annual Conference is sent to each attendee in advance, and all attendees are asked to contribute in some way towards a session or part of the Conference organisation.
Julian Wilde will send out details and contact people in advance to discuss
individual contributions.
Travel and catering arrangements
A travel pool is operated to ensure costs are shared fairly amongst attendees. All attendees are asked to plan travel arrangements as economically as possible.
Catering arrangements are planned and advised in advance.
Output
A short conference report is produced highlighting the decisions
we propose to implement during the year, and is shared with all Leaders.
This is reviewed during the course of the year and at the next Conference.
